busy work week....

way cool, just such a busy week.
tomorrow, heading to the Pistol Range in Highlands Lakes with some other guys from work for a seminar on various firearms and ammo to better write police and shooting stories.
after the seminar, even get the chance to go onto the range.
then weekend with audrey to see the Nyack HS musical friday night; and saturday head down to PA to see an art gallery on sunday...
am a very busy eamon lately...between work and having a very jam-packed social life...
plus planning out pennsic, a flight in november to arizona for a wedding, and the prague trip as well...

haven't written anything in a really long time. so a quick recap is in order
- I am no longer with North Jersey Media Group, i left at the beginning of September
- I an now the Editor of River Dell Patch, an online news source for River Edge and Oradell. Patch is run through AOL.
-The site went live on Nov. 2 and since then every day has just affirmed that this was the right direction I needed to take in my journalism career
- All legal documents have been changed over to reflect a change in gender to male
- I am just waiting on a new passport
- Because I will be going to Prague sometime in 2011
- I am seeing someone and couldn't be happier. We're taking it slow which is something we both want
- I finally finished my forearm tattoo designs and just need to go get them done.
- Not until I'm no longer sick. I've been hit with a drug resistant cold that has been kicking my butt for the past two weeks. There has been a lot of chicken soup, green tea, gatorade and medication in my life lately. And I can't wait till am healthy so that i'm not so house bound and back to eating normally
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Overall things are well in life and i'm very happy |

start of new job is just around the corner. got my big box of equipment this morning, including phone, laptop, camera, scanner, etc....monday is my first day of training, which is taking place in Dulles, Va. i get to spend 24 hours in virginia, then come back up north to spend day two of training in SoHo.
so sunday am flying down to virginia - have i mentioned lately i dont like flying? - spend the night in a hotel, catch a cab to head to the AOL building up the street for a day of training. then catch another cab from the AOL building back down the street to the airport to come back to jersey - again, with the flying? :/
then tuesday morning get up early to catch a train to Penn Station and then the subway down to SoHo for a couple more hours of training, then reverse directions and head back to jersey.
while am excited to start the new job and the experiences i will have, the excitment is tempered by my dislike of flying...i dont really like trains or subways either, but i can tolerate them a little better than flying....least the flight from newark to dulles is only an hour and 20 minutes long. so hopefully it will pass by quickly.
other than that, am keeping myself busy during my forced vacation time....and while i've enjoyed the time to relax, am getting anxious to be doing something again with myself other than play SNES and work out a bit every other day. |

ok now that i can actually post this.
i officially gave my two weeks notice at the newspaper today. technically ed has known since friday, but he needed to check something with HR.
because he had to check something with HR, today was my official last day with the newspaper - i will now be paid 2 weeks vacation time until i start new job on sept. 13.
new job will be as Editor of the River Edge Patch website.
the reason for that is that i had been covering River Edge for the newspaper and am now considered an automatic competitor and therefore can not work my final two weeks. which is fine, i can use the time to relax, take care of stuff round the house like clean my room, do laundry, sleep in for once, and play with the dogs until i start with Patch.

basically its a website, devoted to a town for news related items, from municipal government to school boards, athletics to features, etc.
so after almost three years, i'm saying goodbye to the newspaper and hello to being an editor, where i can be paid good money, do the same things i was doing, and have a slightly more flexible schedule once i start and can begin hiring freelancers. |

am back home now, and while i thoroughly enjoyed my time in Media with my Pack family, am still very glad to be home, and getting to see my puppies. have definitely missed them a lot. i dont know who has worse separation anxiety some times, me or them :)
last night was a good night as my final night sleeping on the couch - well at least until i head down to visit again. after kitty and fuzz got done at work, we had lunch, watched part of the Germany/Uruguay game and waited for sarah to come over. after that, had our adventures in Delaware to a shopping center with a Christmas Tree Shoppe to acquire the necessaries for table decorations for the wedding. while sarah and kitty went to get that, fuzz and i wandered into Dick's to check out camping gear for what we'll need for our fall camping trip. got some ideas of what we'll need to buy incase we can not acquire certain items. brought the car back around to kitty and sarah to load the decorations into the trunk, and then off to Total Wine to look around at some tasty stuff.
after acquiring tasty drinks, back to Media to Trader Joe's for dinner stuff to make panini's. after dinner, it was sitting outside making s'mores on the camp grill until heading back inside, with the addition of Pondo who came to visit. at which point, kitty and i fell asleep on the couch while sarah, fuzz and pondo played mario kart on the wii.
this morning included coffee and breakfast, watching the news and waiting for dad to arrive at noon so we could load the car, and head to lunch with kitty and fuzz. came home, avoiding the turnpike and parkway, and was greeted by two happy dogs. and am not relaxing after dinner and the future shower.
all in all, good times had. am definitely looking forward to heading back down to kitty and fuzz's again in a few weeks. tomorrow head back to work and the problems that i get to handle, but that will be tomorrow's worry. tonight, will relax and enjoy spending time with the dogs, mom and dad. |

i'd have to say that showering last night was an amazing feeling. ok, so it was less of a shower and more of me just standing under the water, but still an amazing feeling.specially having it hit my back, which is in knots from sleeping at a 45 degree angle for a week, and being a bit of like Quasimodo when i sit and walk around. well am still a bit of a Quasimodo right now until the muscles can truly relax in my back and shoulders, but am slowly getting there.
so fuzz took me yesterday morning to have the sutures and drains taken out. and omg, that was not a comfortable feeling at all. i was gripping my belt to try and not move - not a pleasant feeling at all. but am very happy with the results - just a little swollen and bruised, but best of all the nipple grafts took a 100 percent, now am just waiting for the skin around them to finish healing.
after that, we came back to the apt, had lunch and then i watched fuzz play Arkham Asylum on the Xbox until Lexi came to visit. totally made my day, getting to hang out with my sister. so we watched Police Academy (the first one), then she and i wandered around media so i could get outside and we could get dinner while kitty and fuzz went to the tasting for the wedding. then came back and hung out for a bit before she had to head back home.
today's agenda will be relaxing all day, then going out to dinner with kitty and fuzz and then off to the movies to see Despicable Me. saturday more relaxing and doing nothing and sunday dad is coming down to get me since i'm cleared to return to work on monday. granted for work, i am restricted to desk duties for the first couple days as am to still take it easy for the first week home.
so all in all, i'd have to say that my trip down the rabbit hole has been enjoyable and a lot of fun. lots of great company who proved who my true friends all, and i've loved the text messages and FB messages from everyone nonstop. truly has helped in my quick and speedy recovery. |

so drains and sutures gone and results look amazing. gotta take it easy for another week, but am cleared to return to work on monday, so long as i stay desk bound for the first few days, which is fine by me, means i can do more managing responsibilities and will work around the other stuff with bryan to get stuff covered.
all in all, this is amazing. i'm very happy. and totally looking forward to showering a little later tonight. |

at 11am, tomorrow morning will be arriving at Leis' office to have the binder, bandages and drains removed. seriously cant wait, this is hardcore fucking exciting. Fuzz is taking me and then get to come back to the apt to shower and then play video games.
right after seeing my chest, am definitely looking forward to showering. no showers in a week is a horrible thing for me. am so used to showering every day that not being able to is such a horrible thing. while sponge baths from kitty is nice, doesnt totally do the same job b/c the binder and bandages are still on and there are places cant clean up. so shower is in order hardcore.
so tomorrow night after it cools of a bit, the three of us are going to sit outside, cause am definitely getting (have gone) stir crazy sitting around doing nada for a week. while its nice to relax, am ready to start moving around more. then friday evening, its dinner out in town and then to the movies to see Despicable Me. it looks good, and it'll be cool at the theater. and also get me out of the apt again for a bit.
but now, get to sit and relax, watch Top Chef and hang out till Pondo comes by later with a sandwich and hang out with me for a couple hours. loving the people who have made the time to come over and keep me company or at least just check in to see how am feeling. definitely annoyed at one person for not making an effort to check in and making bs excuses, saying one thing and then doing another. so am done with them at this point. i dont need the bs, drama and the indecision in my life.
ugh, heat bad. time for more gatorade. have been living off that, goldfish and apples for the past week, with eggs and sandwiches thrown in every so often. but just to damn hot to eat, and when its hot, i dont eat much. so i came here at 135 lbs, and possibly have dropped down a bit. not gonna worry about it though. once am able to be active and work out again, start building up muscle mass as needed.
just gotta take it slow and ease back into everything. wont be able to do any lifting for a while, but i can walk and do crunches and sit ups in the mean time. |

means am healing, but the itchiness can get to be a tad annoying. still a little sore if i sit up for to long, but am able to least sit up for a while. sleeping on the couch is killing my back, so am definately looking forward to the return of my bed next weekend.
drains come out later this week and am hardcore looking forward to getting to see my chest. and getting back on the T since my levels crashed over the weekend. least they will bounce back once i can start up again, its just slightly irritating that they crashed.
well am gonna go lie back down for a bit. am starting to reach my limit of sitting up for a bit. |

well as mom has written yesterday, came though surgery well, barring the almost throwing up as they were getting to wheel me out to the car. standing up to get dressed and be put in the wheelchair was a bad idea. but after i finally stopped being green, was put into the car and fuzz, kitty and i made our way back to the apt where i slept for a bit till we had to check and empty the drains.
fuzz is taking good care of checking and emptying the drains every few hours. and kitty is helping me with acquiring food and drink - as my arms dont go up. but i can walk back and forth from the bathroom all on my own, though i have trouble closing the door properly right now.
pain level is at a 2, so took a tylenol before to take the edge off, rather than take another percoset just yet. might take half of one of those before bed later tonight. definately very sore across my chest. back hurts too, but thats from lack of ability to get comfy right now, but hopefully that should ease up in another day or so.
for now, think am gonna take another nap as am running low on energy again. am good for bout an hour or two, then need to nap for a bit. txt msg's are welcome, though might take a while to get back to people if am sleeping. |
